This week-end, I have decided to cook using things that are already in my cupboards.
This is the first instalment of a series.
So here is what I did :
1) A yoghurt cake with raisins.
From the pantry : raisins, eggs, flour, rhum.
Verdict : Not bad.
Project : I have got lots of cooking chocolate, I need to use that recipe again.Maybe with chocolate chips.
2) chocolate cream pots
From the pantry : milk, instant chocolate powder, raisins again.
Verdict : very good, very creamy though I used random measures. A good way to use up milk ;)
Projects : I'll forget the raisins next time. But I have orange peel to use instead. I may use milk powder, I have got a packet somewhere. Also apparently when you add cream to the milk, this kind of instant powder dessert is, gues what, creamier !
3) Quinoa and Spiced Lentils Dish.
Roughly inspired by : http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/31/health/quinoa-with-spiced-lentil-dal.html?_r=0
From the pantry : unused quinoa, lentils, garlic, tomato paste, dried herbs.
Verdict : not bad, an easy vegetarian option.
Projects :
do it again, I have loads of quinoa and lentils and it's fast to cook.
But dried herbs are not nice, I should use parsley or shredded lettuce
to make the dish tastier. I may use the leftovers with tuna and add more
tomato.
